Personal Review

After finishing Beartown, I was left with a feeling of longing — as if the story had paused, not ended. Us Against You gave me that closure I didn’t even realize I needed. Backman once again pulls you deep into the heart of Beartown, and this time, I felt like I was truly one of the Bears — laughing, smiling, and crying alongside them. The story isn’t just about hockey (though the rink remains its emotional center); it’s about friendship, loss, standing up for what’s right, and the quiet courage it takes to face life’s hardships — sometimes all alone. What I loved most is how Us Against You turns a simple town rivalry into a raw exploration of community, belonging, and redemption. Every character carries their own wounds, yet somehow, they remind us that even in the darkest moments, there’s room for hope and loyalty. If Beartown broke your heart, Us Against You gently pieces it back together — not perfectly, but honestly.
