Personal Review
The Forest of Enchantments by felt less like reading a retelling of the Ramayana and more like discovering an entirely new emotional perspective within a story we have known for generations.
By narrating the story through Sita’s voice, the book transforms an age-old epic into something intimate, vulnerable, and deeply human. It made me understand why this story can truly be called a Sitayanam.
What stayed with me most was how the novel gives space to emotions and sacrifices that often remain in the background. I especially found myself thinking about Urmila — a character rarely spoken about despite enduring fourteen years of separation from Lakshman. Moments like these made the story feel richer and more layered.
