When I picked up Teething, I thought I was about to read a story — but what I found instead was a collection of poems that slowly revealed their own kind of narrative. The order felt a bit incoherent at times, but that almost added to the experience — like wandering through someone’s memories, emotions, and moments of growing up. Megha Rao’s writing is beautiful and deeply felt. The way she weaves words together makes you pause, reread, and feel every emotion she pours into her poems. There’s sadness, happiness, love, pain — and they all exist side by side, raw and real. Even without a traditional story arc, Teething manages to leave an impression. It’s a collection that reminds you how poetry can hold chaos and clarity in the same breath.
