Personal Review
Days at the Morisaki Bookshop is not a book you read for the plot. It's a book you read for the feeling it leaves behind.
Set in Tokyo's famous book district of Jimbocho, the story follows Takako as she moves into her uncle's small second-hand bookstore after a painful breakup. What begins as a refuge slowly becomes a place of healing, self-discovery, and unexpected connections.
What I loved most was that the bookstore itself wasn't romanticized. It wasn't a magical haven filled with extraordinary people. It was a simple, musty, second-hand bookshop and that made it feel real. The beauty of the story comes not from the place itself, but from the people who find comfort within it.
One of the ideas that stayed with me long after I finished the book was that we may spend our entire lives trying to understand things, only to figure out a small part of them and maybe that's enough.
A warm, comforting read for book lovers, dreamers, and anyone who has ever found solace among shelves of books.
Maybe second part of the book is not for everyone but for me it is a good read.
